Ford’s latest recall comes courtesy of several trucks, which could have an issue that causes the digital gauge cluster to malfunction at startup. The problem affects more than 355,000 vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years.

The recall includes the Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550. In affected trucks, the instrument panel cluster (IPC) may remain blank at startup. The issue occurs during the startup sequence in a narrow timeframe, causing a memory fault. The digital gauge cluster displays vehicle speed, fuel levels, and pertinent safety warnings, making its malfunction somewhat of a big deal for drivers. The failure also puts the vehicles at odds with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

While it has not received reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem, Ford said it had received 95 warranty claims. Interestingly, Ford noted that 65 percent of the connected vehicles it inspected had ignition cycle events that could cause the gauge cluster issue and said that it believed the problem could become more common over time.

Unlike many recent Ford recalls, this one can be fixed with a simple over-the-air update, so owners won’t have to visit a dealer for a fix. Dealers were notified of the recall action this week, and owners are set to be notified by mail in early September.
