Hyundai Will Only Build a Few Ioniq 6 Ns Each Year

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N broke cover just a few weeks ago, and we recently learned that the automaker was pulling out all the stops to make the car as exciting as possible, with the automaker saying that it pursued performance without caring too much about the bottom line. Unsurprisingly, that focus comes at the expense of production volume, as Hyundai will reportedly limit annual output to just 6,000 units globally.

By comparison, Hyundai targets around 60,000 annual units for the standard Ioniq 6. The automaker plans to deliver a third of the Ioniq 6 N’s production to China, where EVs sell better than almost anywhere else. North America will receive 1,500, Europe and Austraila will each get 1,500, and another 1,000 units will be sold in Hyundai’s home market of South Korea, though it did say that those breakdowns could change if demand in one area shifts.

Hyundai calls the car a “pivotal milestone” for its N brand, though its specs are nearly identical to the Ioniq 5 N that preceded it. Its two electric motors offer 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, giving it a 3.2-second 0-60 mph time, and Hyundai installs all of the electronic gadgets from the 5, including simulated shifts and a crazy torque vectoring system.
