It’s vacation time around these parts — people are shuffling in and out of our virtual offices, and yours truly will be sitting poolside half a country away from home this weekend.
I will be flying to my destination, but I’ve taken a few road trips in my day. Sometimes, not by choice — parents made the call to go somewhere, we didn’t fly for whatever reason, and I fired up the old Nintendo Gameboy to pass the time.
There are times to fly, and times to road trip. What’s been your favorite road trip, and what were you driving?
I have a few good childhood road-trip memories — my dad and I taking his Fox-body Mustang (not the same one I owned) across the Midwest to Cincinnati with my best friend in tow, and later to Florida for baseball spring training, just dad and I. Those stand out. So, too, does a father-son pilgrimage to Cooperstown in my mom’s 1988 GMC Sierra. Side note: The baseball Hall of Fame is absolutely worth the trip.
Now it’s your turn. You know what to do. Sound off below.
